Beautiful winter day.....the thick fog we drove through last night on our way home from the hockey game transformed the landscape this morning to a gorgeous sparkling world covered with frost. The thick cloud cover protected the delicate crystals from certain demise incurred by the meeting with direct sunshine, leaving us to enjoy this glorious blessing as we went about our day. It is fitting that it lasted nearly this entire Sunday, helping us to remember God's hand in our lives, even in the seemingly little things, as we devote the first day of our week to Him.
This Super Sunday was pretty slow for us....surprising for sure. Michael's coach took him to hockey this morning, which allowed the rest of us to sleep in. Bob was spending the day catching up on nearly 300 dictations. The kids and I spent only 30 minutes getting ready for morning church(with two in the tub!)...a new record for us! Thomas screamed when I dropped him off in the nursery, and according to their report, was fussing the entire time. This has been his norm now in the morning for the past few weeks. When we came back to afternoon church, Thomas screamed again when I dropped him off, but according to their report, he had been very happy and smiley, moving all over the place playing with toys. This too, has been his norm for afternoon church. The afternoon people absolutely adore him and miss him on the days I leave him at home....the morning peole have never said anything positive about him. I think he can sense who really likes him!
We had a low-key Superbowl "party"....in fact, it was just me and Tubby for most of the first quarter. Bob was still upstairs working, Michael was playing pond hockey on the lake with his friends, Melissa was next door with the neighbor girl, and the other kids were upstairs playing new video games. Having never made it to the grocery store this weekend, and being out of pretty much everything, I was surprised with the fantastic dinner I managed to derive out of nothing: steak, corn on the cob, chips with homemade dip, grapes, and french silk pie. We also had pre-game snacks of cream cheese wontons, and spinach and feta pastries. The treat for the kids was having green kool-aid, usually only reserved for summer thirsts! Impressive, huh?
