Most people have their sights set on big dreams.....like fame, fortune, luxury, etc. Me? I just wanted to go to a Minnesota Wild Game at some point in my little life. Oh, and maybe to someday take a nap.
I got that opportunity tonight. In exchange for Crispy's team to have ice time at the Xcel in February, we all chipped in and bought some Wild tickets. Being, um, not so rich, we purchased the cheapest tickets possible.....at $26 each for the "nose bleed" seats. No matter. We were going to a Minnesota Wild game! For real!
I took my January birthday boys with me. Indecently, it is the three of us January people who play hockey in our family. Coincidence? Makes you wonder! Anyhow, it was a great way to spend some special time with these boys of mine. We all were pretty psyched.
Our seats turned out to be high, but directly behind one of the goals, so they ended up being great seats in which to view the game. We were also seated on bar stools with a table rail, so we had no hat heads or high hair folks blocking our view. We missed no part of the action....which is good, because hockey in a 100% action packed sport! We were also far enough away from all the die-hard-and-mostly-drunk-and-angry fans who tend to gravitate toward the dasher glass.
Having so many families there from Crispy's team that night, we ran into Waconia folk at every turn. The night felt more like hanging out at our own arena than it did being nameless in a sea of tens of thousands. A few well priced bags of mini-donuts rounded out our NHL experience and was the perfect sweet touch to a dream come true. And the Wild won. Sweet, indeed!
