Grandpa's Lovely Birthday

It's October 8th, and absolutely lovely outside! And dare I say, even a bit too HOT. This has been amazing fall weather in our neck of the woods, and we have been trying to enjoy every moment we can.

For Grandpa's birthday, we spent the day outside at the Arboretum. Plenty of other people had the same idea too! Despite being in the middle of the day on a weekday, the entire parking lot was packed full of cars, and people filled the buildings and pathways. But not so much that we couldn't enjoy ourselves. While we were taking in the sites, Melissa was filling in her Botany notebook, as we turned this into her first home school field trip. She impressed me with how much she has already learned and remembered.

We saw so many cool things:

~like the scarecrows,

~twig structure,
~gorgeous fall color, ~and simply a lovely time with Grandma and Grandpa.
~OH! And artists' renditions of how we live together with plants. Consider yourselves "slugged"~
Happy Birthday, Grandpa! We love you and hope you had a great day!
